Our concept
Model European Parliament (MEP) is a political simulation in which young people from various Dutch speaking schools take on the roles of politicians representing the interests of a European country. They strive to persuade each other of their viewpoints and reach a consensus on a wide range of challenges that Europe is facing. These challenges could include energy issues, as well as discussions on more efficient transportation or safer working environments.
MEP BELGIUM (National) is targeted at students in their fourth year of secondary education. They embark on an uncertain adventure but return home after five days with a suitcase full of commitment and inspiration to participate in political decision-making. Additionally, the fifteen-year-olds learn to speak in front of a large audience and make new connections.
Outstanding students may also be nominated to participate in international MEP-editions with peers from other European countries. We also host some of those sessions, such as WEMEP Lier 2024.
Whether it's a national or international session, MEP revolves around debate, persuasive skills, political insight, and rhetorical talent. It's an experience that students still talk about many years later.
